On March 12, 2009, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SJTUSM) visited CMU to learn from the teaching experience of CMU and to discuss the cooperation of student and faculty exchange, led by Prof. Huang Gang, Vice Dean of SJTU School of Medicine, Vice Dean of Academic Affairs Tang Hongmei, Vice Dean of Personnel Office Zhu Haiying, Vice Dean of Student Affairs Xie Yiwei, Vice Dean of Ruijin Clinical School Shao Jie, Director of Infrastructure Office Gu Manfeng and Director of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Office Gao Hong.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in China, with its predecessor, Nanyang Public University, founded at the end of the 19th century and merged with the former Shanghai Agricultural College in 1999 and the former Shanghai Second Medical University in 2005. The university has 21 faculties and departments. Shanghai Jiao Tong University Medical College is located in the center of Shanghai. The College has more than 13,000 faculty and staff members, 18 faculties (departments) including the School of Basic Medicine, the School of Clinical Medicine, the School of Dentistry, the School of Pediatrics, the School of Public Health, the School of Nursing, the School of Health Technology, the Department of Laboratory Medicine, the Department of Nutrition, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Department of Pharmacy, 7 general hospitals and 3 specialist hospitals,15 teaching hospitals and teaching centers..
Prof. Huang Gang, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of SJTU, expressed that SJTU would enhance the training of residents in the future and looked forward to the mutual exchange of teaching and research resources between the two institutions in the future. Prof. Wu-Chung Shen, Dean of the College of Medicine and Prof. Hsi-Chin Wu, Director of the School of Medicine, led the guests to visit the Molecular Medicine Center, the Emergency Medicine Center and the Preventive Medicine Center. The visitors were impressed by the bright and comfortable space design of our hospital.
